Daisy Corner:
Hello Everyone, Welcome. During the past month our children aged 15 months and over have been slowly making the transition up to the Sunflower Nook room. They have been getting used to the routine and carers in the toddlers’ room and look forward to joining in with them when it is suggested to them.
All of the children have been enjoying outside play and story time. We have been singing lots of song especially enjoying “Wheels on the Bus and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”. The children are learning the actions to these songs.
In Sunflower Nook, please remember to pack and name nappies and bedding. They will need lunch in a named lunch box, a named hat, named shoes and named spare clothes. The lockers are more accessible and its easy to get ownership of items not named mixed. Sunflower Nook and Daisy Corner work together and play together, so we will hopefully still be seeing lots of each other still. Its been a pleasure observing and sharing the milestones as these children have grown.

Sunflower Nook:
Hi there Folks, Its February already! This year is moving very fast. Welcome to our children Cody, Sharn and Ella. Big Birthday wishes to Jack, Ethan, Aalliyah, Shania and Maggie. Lots of sensory play activities have been on the agenda including playdough, finger painting, sponge painting and blue/red goo! Messy yes, buts lots of fun.
We have had a little visitor in our room over the last week. He is a very happy little Teddy Bear, who has some amazing adventures. He loves to sing too and the children dance along to his songs. Songs we are learning are “Once I caught a fish alive”, “Five cheeky monkeys”, Where is Thumbkin” and “Open shut them”. The new books we have been reading are “Where is Hugle, Bugle Bear”, “One Bear Lost” and “Where is Green Sheep” with particular focus on the “Maquarie Book of Shapes” which we are also learning our colours as well.
We are focusing on our range of flashcards to enhance and encourage verbalisation and communication. That’s all for now. More information in the next newsletter.
Cheers Elysia and Tracey.
Cabbage Patch Room:
Welcome to all our new families in Cabbage Patch. This month we have been learning about counting to ten and the alphabet. We are learning a new song “Five Grey Elephants”.
The children have been learning to pack away their own activities. This is improving their concentration and developing a more peaceful environment with the children engaged in more individual play. The Montessori Method is going really successfully. The children have been enjoying a lot of outdoor activities as well, so remember please to pack a hat and label all children’s belongings. That’s all for this now.

Grapevines Room:
Hi from all in the Grapevine room. It is great to start a new year with some new faces. Savannah had her first day today, so a big welcome to you, we know you will have a happy year ahead.
This year the centre is focusing on the Montessori Method. We are all very excited and looking forward to designing our rooms around this philosophy.
If you missed the introduction night, another discussion on the Montessori Method will be held at our next monthly Parent and Staff meeting 6pm 03 March, 2009.
Our focus for this month is Australia, we are looking at where it is on the map, on the globe and what it looks like. If you have any ideas you would like to share with us, please let me know. Sign language is again a part of our curriculum and our sign for the month is HELP!
Teresa will be working closely with Mel for the next week in preparation for introducing the Montessori Method to the Grapevine children.
Bye for now: Teresa, Rachel and Angie
Apricot Grove Room:
A big Hello and Welcome to everyone.
The four year olds and older three’s are moving back into Apricot Grove now that we have set up the room for some new individualised activities.
I am excited to be starting the Montessori Method and demonstrating the new equipment by providing lessons for the children. We are all learning along with the children. It is a great new adventure for us all. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask Julia or myself, but please come along to the information evening sessions.
I hope to see you at our next information evening on 3rd March, 2009. Until then stay safe
Mel, Teresa and Jaime
