NEW SIGNS

Employee of the month – Rachael

Rachael started her traineeship here at Country Kids in November last year (2009).

Since then she has become an integral part of our team and has proven that this month especially therefore we have recognised this by awarding her the Employee of the Month for February.

Rachael is the assistant in the Bambini room and carries out her duties with care and proficiency.

She is great with the children and her sense of humour keeps all in stiches and makes the workplace an enjoyable and cheerful place to be.

Thankyou Rachael for all your hard work it is very much appreciated.

Apple & Grape Parade

A big thankyou to Teresa for driving the bus.

Tracey, Rachael, Georgia, Rachael M and Katrina for handing our balloons and flyers and to the two children who joined us on our trip waving to all the people Nicholas and Taneisha.

We handed out flyers and balloons from in the bus, due to the weather, to help promote our centre to the community.

We are very proud to announce that we won 3^rd prize in the school section with a prize of $75. Again thankyou to those who helped and attended and to those who couldn’t this time, maybe next time.

Children's Meals prepared by Bella Rosa’s

We are excited to announce that we have made arrangements with "Bella Rosa's" to provide nutriciously balanced meals for the children in our care.

In the news section of the Country Kids web site, (www.countrykidsstanthorpe.com.au) you will find the weekly menu rotation for a 12 week period, which the centre will provide for a nominal fee of $4 per day.

Parents need to commit to a 2 week block at a time.

Orders will be required 1 week in advance for a 2 week block.

Children who do not like a particular meal will be made a sandwich by the centre staff.

Children who do not wish to participate in the lunch program will still be provided with fruit for morning tea and yoghurt for afternoon tea but will need to bring their own lunch.

Those children who do not like or cannot have yoghurt will be offered crackers, biscuits or bread and spread for afternoon tea.

You will need to complete the consent form indicating whether your child/children will be participating in our lunch program and please indicate which 2 week block/s you will be requiring.

Consent forms are available from staff at the centre

The program will be reviewed at each monthly staff/parent meeting held the first Tuesday of every month at 6.00pm.

Please note that the program will be starting on Wednesday the 27^th January so lunches will need to be supplied for Monday the 25^th January.

Making Crowns

In the Bambini Room children enjoyed using their imagination and creative skill to make colourful crowns. The crowns were cut to size ensuring that each child made a crown that could fit their head. While making their crowns the children would select different colours, shapes and mediums of collage to stick on with glue. Once they covered their crowns with their choice of design we then stapled the crowns ends together and they wore their crowns with pride, pretending to be Kings, Queens, Princes and Princesses until there parent took them home. Thanks Jo and Tanya for this wonderful learning experience!!!

KINDERGARTEN APPROVAL FOR 2010

Country Kids Has made application to the Queensland Government to become part of the 2010 Kindergarten Scheme.

This Kindergarten Scheme is part of the Queensland Governments plan to ensure that all children have access to kindergarten learning program in the year prior to Prep.

The educational programming for this Kindergarten Scheme will be based on the National Early Learning Years Framework and will be delivered by qualified teachers.

WALK AROUND THE SUN

As part of the Montessori program we have introduced our walk around the sun.
As a Montessori activity Country Kids celebrates birthdays by recognising how many years we have been on earth.
When it comes to the aniversary/celebration day of their birth the children can walk around a candle, which represents the sun, the same number of times they have been on earth, (their age), just like the earth circles the sun.
The walk around the sun chart is positioned on the classroom wall. it consists of the sun in the middle, the months and the children's birthdays around the outer circle, and the earth the middle coinciding with the current month.
This walk around the sun allows all children to celebrate their time on earth no matter what religion or cultural background they come from

Katrina Marino - Employee of the Month

Katrina has been at Country Kids for a short time and is already making her mark on the centre. Her conduct is always impeccable and she is up for anything. Her happy disposition and continual hard work makes her a pleasure to work with. Thanks for your hard work Katrina. Keep it up.

Hands unite friendships

Week one of vacation care at Country Kids has started with a bang!

We have been lost at the maze, literally, while solving puzzles and some of us tried mini golf for the first time.
Card making and stamping have showed just how creative our children really are! Beaded jewellery making was a huge hit as even the boys found colours and styles to suit even the most boyish taste.
We have all been kept in line after visiting the police station where we checked out the police cars, holding cells, detective equipment and said hello to our friendly police team here in Stanthorpe.
In our quieter times we have been learning about each other and where we come from, our interests, our dreams and our homes. This comes about in the form of two games. The first game is called the M and M game. A bowl of M and M’s is placed on the table and the children are told they can take as many or as few M and M’s as they like. Most of the children as you can imagine take a HUGE handful. I then begin to explain that for every M and M that they have taken they must tell us one interesting fact about themselves. The second game is called the toilet paper game which is very similar to the M and M game. The children are given a roll of toilet paper and told to take as many squares of toilet paper as they would use when going to the toilet they are then told that for every piece they took they must share something about themselves naturally this creates a huge amount of laughter as each child gets their toilet time to share with everyone about themselves. We hope that by the children learning about each other that they will realize that every person is different, that it is okay to be who you are and to be accepting of everyone else. This also enables us to understand where each child comes from their interests and dreams which helps in planning of the activities.
We hope that week two brings just as many laughs and there is plenty more fun to be had. Thank you Angie and the Country Kids team.
